Glass Shoppe Imports, LLP is a family-owned and operated business founded on our affinity of travel. Our love of Prague and its beauty, history and culture is reflected in our product selection, which showcases the best glass craftsmanship in the world.
We're in the business of importing beautiful, one-of-a-kind art glass objects. Our staff has traveled to the Czech Republic over 20 times and visits every year to bring our customers the very best in authentic Czech art glass pieces.
About our Products
Our products are hand blown and hand cut and etched using the methods applied to glass craftsmanship by the Czech people for several centuries. As with all handmade products, there will be some differences between products. For example, the height, weight and other dimensions listed on this site are provided as a general reference as to the size of each product. Because of the handmade nature of the products, even two of the same items will be somewhat different, as each one is unique.
The Art of Glass
During the night, glass is melted in ovens for the glass workers get an early start producing the glass before the heat of the day sets in. Pressurized air is blown through the melted glass, gathering bubbles as it rises. This is how the majority of bubbles are removed from the glass. Some small bubbles may remain in the glass, and should not be seen as a flaw or imperfection, rather as evidence that the glass is made by hand and not by a mechanical process.
These handmade products may differ slightly from the color that you see on your screen, due to differences in computer monitor color calibrations. Also, each batch of glass is melted and colored individually with color rods, so slight color differences between two products that are the same color can be expected.
These differences are a part of what makes our glass products unique, and worth owning. Highly skilled craftsmen have melted, blown, shaped, and etched or cut these pieces by hand.
